Clerico Park – picked up litter at a local park as part of Community Pride week sponsored by the Greenwood-Leflore Chamber of Commerce.
North New Summit School – Mississippi State Anti-littering representative presented to the elementary classes about the harmful effects of littering. STAR club members assisted with the presentation.
Clerico Park – beautification project where STAR club painted several pieces of playground equipment in order to improve park appearance for the community.
North New Summit School – school-wide donations of pet supplies and cleaning products were provided and given to the Leflore County Animal Humane Society in order to promote animal welfare in our community.
Indywood Glen Personal Care – the Art club and STAR clubs worked together to make posters to decorate Indywood and candy bag treats for the residents. This project assisted students with understanding how simple gestures of kindness can make a significant impact on others.
The students at North New Summit School participated in a “Snacks for our Soldiers” event in January 2010. Students and faculty donated a variety of snacks to be sent to soldiers serving in Iraq. Seventeen boxes of snacks were collected and will be mailed to family members of our faculty and students who are serving overseas. The students who donated items were allowed to dress in camouflage for a day in support of our soldiers.
